Public Heat Pump & Underfloor Heating Component Price Monitor 2026
Public prices only. These are the foundation numbers we use when building the planning bands in our calculators. Updated quarterly.
Why this page exists
Our calculators are deliberately set as realistic full-installed planning figures for Devon and Cornwall. They start from the public equipment and materials prices below and then add the professional layer (design, labour, electrics, commissioning, access and the practical realities of older South West properties). This page shows the public prices we track so you can see the foundation for yourself.
Air source heat pump kits (public, inc VAT)
Last checked: August 2026 · Sources include The Underfloor Heating Store and manufacturer published lists
| Capacity | Complete kit example | What is included |
|---|---|---|
| 6 kW | £6,617 | Grant Aerona3 + pre-plumbed cylinder + install pack |
| 10 kW | £8,196 | Grant Aerona3 + pre-plumbed cylinder + install pack |
| 13 kW | £9,060 | Grant Aerona3 + pre-plumbed cylinder + install pack |
| 17 kW | £10,157 | Grant Aerona3 + pre-plumbed cylinder + install pack |
Unit-only prices start lower (Grant bodies roughly £2,700–£5,700). These kits do not include design, labour, electrics, MCS or radiator work. Our full installed bands start from these public kit prices and add the professional layer. See the kit vs installed Reality Check for the full explanation.
Radiator upgrades for heat pumps (public installed ranges)
Last checked: August 2026
| Scope | Typical public range | Our planning uplift |
|---|---|---|
| Single radiator | £200–£550 | — |
| Partial (3–6 radiators) | £800–£2,400 | Many: +£750–£1,250 |
| Full / extensive | £1,500–£5,500+ | Full: +£1,500–£2,500 |
Our Few / Many / Full uplifts sit inside these public ranges as conservative planning figures. See the radiator Reality Check for the mapping.
Underfloor heating systems (public installed £/m²)
Last checked: August 2026
| System path | Typical installed £/m² | Typical build-up |
|---|---|---|
| Screed (new-build / open floor) | £50–£90 | Insulation + 50–65 mm screed |
| Low-profile overlay (XPS / gypsum) | £80–£150 | 15–30 mm boards |
| Suspended / joist | £70–£130 | Minimal rise between joists |
Material-only board prices are lower. Full installed figures include pipe, manifold, labour and finishing. Our calculator maps these paths and applies realistic planning bands for Devon & Cornwall floor-height realities. See the UFH systems Reality Check.
Controls layer (public component prices)
Last checked: August 2026
| Component | Typical public price |
|---|---|
| Wiring centre (4–8 zone) | £40–£160 |
| Smart thermostat (per zone) | £60–£220 supply |
| Thermal actuator | £25–£45 each |
| Secondary return pump | £100–£350 installed |
| Full multi-zone package | £300–£800+ |
These form the professional controls layer already allowed for inside our full installed bands. See the controls Reality Check.
Scaffold / access for solar (public ranges)
Last checked: August 2026
| Property type | Typical scaffold cost |
|---|---|
| Mid-terrace / simple access | £350–£500 |
| Semi-detached | £450–£650 |
| Detached / larger | £550–£800 |
| London / complex access | £650–£950+ |
New-build or concurrent works can share the main construction scaffold and reduce or eliminate this cost. Our solar and combined calculators already apply lower bands when new-build or existing scaffold is indicated. See the scaffold Reality Check.
How these numbers are used
Every planning band in our calculators starts from the public prices on this page and then adds the professional layer required for a proper MCS install in Devon and Cornwall. That is why the figures are set where they are.
